A BUSINESS boss has said it is a "miracle" no-one died after a car ploughed into his shop in Bradford.

Emergency services rushed to the incident on Kilnsey Road, at the junction with Leeds Road, shortly after midnight.

A vehicle had smashed into Diamond Vapes and a neighbouring store.

One man was taken to hospital with what police described as "non-life-threatening injuries".

'It all happened very fast'

Adil Azeem told the Telegraph & Argus he was working alongside a colleague at Diamond Vapes - which was open until 2am - and there were also several customers inside the shop when the crash happened.

Adil, operations manager at Diamond Vapes, said: "All of a sudden we heard a loud bang and a car came hurtling across and smashed into the shop front and the door, which was made of glass.

"That all shattered and quite a lot of shelves and products fell down.

"It all happened very fast - you don't expect something like this to happen.

"If any of us had been near the shop front or if anybody had been walking past, I think we'd have been looking at fatalities.

"It's a miracle that didn't happen."

Adil said several thousands of pounds' worth of damage was caused to Diamond Vapes and the store next door.

"We're looking at £5,000 damage to our shop front alone," he added.

Adil said there was a "long clean-up process" after the incident.

"We all gathered together and stayed until around 3am cleaning up the glass - it had gone all over the pavement and we didn't want to cause any injuries to members of the community," he added.

He said Diamond Vapes remains open despite the incident.

What have emergency services said?

A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson told the Telegraph & Argus this morning: "Police were called by the ambulance service at just after midnight to Kilnsey Road at the junction with Leeds Road to reports of a one-vehicle road traffic collision.

"The report is it crashed into a building.

"A man has been taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

"The road reopened at 1.43am."

When the Telegraph & Argus asked if anyone had been arrested in connection with the incident, the police spokesperson said there was nothing further to add.

A spokesperson for Yorkshire Ambulance Service added: "An ambulance and rapid response vehicle were dispatched to the scene of the collision and one patient was conveyed to Bradford Royal Infirmary."
