A BRADFORD pub which had undergone a £130,000 refurbishment last year is under new management.

The Dog & Gun pub, on Harrogate Road, Apperley Bridge, is in new hands after Stuart and Claire Mclean bid a fond farewell to punters last week.

A post on the Dog & Gun Facebook page read: "The Dog and Gun will change management. Stuart and Claire would like to say a very big thank you for all the support from the local community over the last year. We’ve made some friends for life. We hope you all have a very happy Christmas and a brilliant new year."

The change became effective on Sunday, December 4.

The pub is run by Yorkshire-based pub operator Star Pubs & Bars.

A spokesperson for Star Pubs & Bars said: “The Dog and Gun, Apperley Bridge is leased to a multi-site operator who has appointed a new manager to run the pub following the departure of the previous managers who already oversee other pubs on his behalf.”

The Apperley Bridge pub closed for three weeks in October 2022 to undergo a £130,000 refurbishment, re-opening in mid-November last year.

Funds were spent on a top-to-toe interior redecoration and a complete overhaul of the exterior including the creation of a covered and heated terrace seating 40 people.

Outside, the pub was redecorated in cream and brown with signage in gold lettering and the frosted glass removed allowing passers-by to see the warm and welcoming interior, which featured new electric heating.

Inside, the pub was given a more modern look with painted panelling and exposed stone walls, new carpet and renovated timber flooring.

Jon Kelly, Star Pubs & Bars area manager, said: "There has been a lot of new housing built locally over last the last two to three years and roadworks outside to contend with.

"This investment will take The Dog & Gun to a whole new level and give new and existing residents a great place to come together."
