FLOOD alerts remain in place today following heavy downpours.

The Environment Agency has urged people to take care and avoid using low-lying footpaths and any bridges near watercourses.

People should not attempt to walk or drive through flood water.

A yellow weather warning for rain has also been issued by the Met Office. It is in place from 5pm today until 3am on Monday. 

The latest on flood alerts affecting the Bradford district and surrounding areas

Upper River Aire catchment

"River levels on the Upper River Aire have been steadily falling through today. Due to further rain expected this evening and into the early hours of Monday morning, levels are expected to increase once again overnight.

"With only limited capacity available in Cononley washlands, levels are likely to be particularly high in the Kildwick area going into Monday morning, but should fall later in the day.

"Therefore, this flood alert remains in force. Areas most at risk include locations near the River Aire, Eller Beck and Waller Hill Beck, with low-lying land expected to be most affected, particularly around the River Aire from Gargrave to Stockbridge, including Eshton Beck, Eller Beck and Silsden Beck.

"There remains a risk of flooding of low-lying land and minor roads."

River Worth catchment

"River levels have fallen through today, after yesterday's persistent rainfall.

"However further rainfall is forecast this evening and into the early hours of Monday morning, therefore levels on the River Worth are expected to increase once again from around 8pm.

"Levels are likely to be lower than those seen last night.

"Areas most at risk include River Worth, Bridgehouse Beck and North Beck from Oxenhope to Keighley.

"We will continue to monitor rainfall and river levels closely. Avoid using low-lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses and do not attempt to walk or drive through flood water."

Flood alert area: River Worth, Bridgehouse Beck and North Beck from Oxenhope to Keighley.

Upper River Calder catchment

"River levels on the Upper River Calder have fallen after last night's rain, but are expected to increase once again following another band of rain forecast for tonight.

"Therefore, this flood alert remains in force.

"Levels are expected to rise again at around 7pm tonight, with a peak in Hebden Bridge around 1am to 2am on Monday morning.

"We will continue to monitor rainfall and river levels closely. Avoid using low-lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses and do not attempt to walk or drive through flood water."

Flood alert area: River Calder and its tributaries from Todmorden to Brighouse.

Middle River Aire catchment

"River levels on the Middle River Aire have fallen after last night's rain, but are expected to increase once again following another band of rain forecast for tonight.

"Therefore, this flood alert remains in force. A flood warning remains in place for Allerton Ings and A656 Barnsdale Road, meaning flooding is expected in those areas.

"Levels are expected to rise again at around midnight tonight, peaking through Leeds around 7 to 9am Monday morning.

"We will continue to monitor rainfall and river levels closely. Avoid using low-lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses and do not attempt to walk or drive through flood water."

Flood alert area: River Aire from Stockbridge to Castleford, including Bradford Beck, Oulton Beck and Kippax Beck.

Lower River Calder catchment

"River levels on the Lower River Calder have fallen after last night's rain, but are expected to increase once again following another band of rain forecast for tonight. 

"We expect to see similar or slightly higher levels to those reached last night.

"Therefore, this flood alert remains in force. Areas most at risk include the River Calder from Brighouse to Castleford, including Chickenley Beck, Spring Mill Beck and Waindike. We will continue to monitor rainfall and river levels closely.

"Levels are expected to rise again at around 8pm tonight, with a peak in Darton around 2 to 3 am on Monday morning.

"We will continue to monitor rainfall and river levels closely. Avoid using low-lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses and do not attempt to walk or drive through flood water."

Flood alert area: River Calder from Brighouse to Castleford including Chickenley Beck, Spring Mill Beck and Waindike.

Lower River Wharfe

"The flood alert for the Lower River Wharfe remains in force due to recent persistent rain.

"Rivers are responding due to this rainfall falling on already wet catchments.

"Flooding is forecast to affect locations near the River Wharfe, with low-lying land expected to be most affected, particularly around the Wharfe and its tributaries from Otley to upstream of Ulleskelf.

"Levels are are now falling. Further rainfall is forecast over the coming days and levels are expected to remain high. We continue to monitor levels closely. Consider putting your flood plan into action. You should avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water."

Flood alert area: The Lower River Wharfe and tributaries from Otley to upstream of Ulleskelf.
