A MAJOR Bradford road has been blocked off this evening causing heavy traffic in the area. 

A650 Wakefield Road Northbound is blocked due to a 'police incident' that's being reported on a traffic page. 

The incident has been ongoing since 2:25pm this afternoon where police initially confirmed it was a 'damage only collision'

Bus diversions are in place for First Bus Services 617, 618, 620 and 630.

Police are directing traffic along the roundabout.

The traffic App said: "A650 Wakefield Road Northbound blocked, heavy traffic due to police incident at The A6181 Central Ring Road Turn Off. Ongoing since around 14:25. Diversion: For bus services 617, 618, 620 and 630"

One motorist told the T&A: "I stopped the car just past that site thinking I had a flat back tyre.

"It wasn't but it felt like the car was steering with the back wheels.

"Very weird.  

"I'm thinking diesel on the road as It was so slippery."

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: "Police were called to Wakefield Road, near Croft Street, Bradford at about 12,34pm following a report of a road traffic collision involving two vehicles. 

"Officers attended the road on which two other collisions involving other vehicles had also taken place.

"No injuries were reported in the incidents and council gritters have been requested and are attending.  

"Traffic has been diverted and drivers are advised to avoid the area."
