The extensions of two popular and highly rated homes that care for the elderly in West Yorkshire are nearing completion.

The work to build 15 new en-suite bedrooms at Currergate Nursing Home in Steeton will complete this month and work to deliver eight new en-suite rooms at Brookfield Care Home in Nab Wood is due to finish in February 2024.

The major extension and improvement programmes are part of Czajka Care Group’s multi-million-pound investment, following demand from people keen to move into its nursing and care homes. In total, 23 new state-of-the-art rooms, which all include disabled friendly en-suite bathrooms, will become available to people looking for quality nursing and care in West Yorkshire.

Czajka Care Group’s managing director, Konard Czajka, said: “We already care for 78 people across our Currergate and Brookfield homes, but we were keen to create more high-quality rooms, as our enquiry levels for places continue to soar.

“Both homes are rated ‘good’ by the Care Quality Commission and most people choose to live with us because they want to live at a family owned and run home, not a corporately owned large-scale home, which can often be more impersonal. Residents can personalise their rooms and bring their own furniture if they wish. We make sure everyone feels at home here, with all of their precious mementoes and home comforts, alongside everything they need to be cared for safely.

“Our team of wonderful people, many of whom have worked with us for decades, are also what make our homes so special, and we care for many people from the same families, with most of our residents joining us due to personal recommendation.”

The developments will also create dozens of new full-time jobs in the local areas. Konrad added: “We are so lucky to have such a talented and loyal team of almost 100 nursers, carers and other support staff at Currergate and Brookfield, who have chosen a career in care because it’s something they are really passionate about. These extensions will enable us to recruit even more team members and help them to progress in their careers in care.”

At Currergate Nursing Home, which has been owned and run by the Czajka family for 20 years, its team of 53 provide day care, respite care, full-time care and end of life care from the attractive and spacious home, which is based to the south of Skipton Road between Skipton and Keighley.

Czajka Care Group has owned and run Brookfield Care Home for 30 years. Its team of 47 care professionals provide full-time care, respite care, palliative care, day care and short breaks to residents from the purpose-built immaculately kept home. Brookfield Care Home is part of a wider development at Fairmount Park, which includes Fairmount Park retirement homes and The Clubhouse, a first-class leisure facility, all on Nab Wood Drive in Shipley.
