A pancake and waffle house has opened in Bingley’s historic Station Masters House.

Platform 3 Pancake House specialises in sweet and savoury versions of the popular desserts.

The menu features anything from American style or Millionaire shortbread pancakes to breakfast options and Eton Mess waffles.

It is a dream come true for business partners Matthew Bell and Tracey Bennett.

Matthew, whose family has lived in Bingley since the 1700s, had always wanted to open a business in the Station Masters House.

Matthew said: “It was one of them whenever we drove past you think, that needs something. When I saw it was open again I jumped at the chance because it stands out. It needs something good in there, hopefully we’ve done it.”

He added: “The building was initially done about three years ago. It was railway themed so we’ve kept that because of where it is.

“We have changed a few bits. We’ve got a function room upstairs.

Bradford Telegraph and Argus:

“It’s something a little bit different and everybody likes a treat.

“We just thought it would be different for Bingley.

You can find Breakfast pancakes with crushed avocado and lemon or streaky bacon, fried egg, tomato, mushroom and cheese.

For those with sweet tooths, the menu also has traditional options like banana, vanilla ice cream, and chocolate sauce.

There will also be servings of locally made ice cream, Groovy Moo, as well as sundaes.

“They don’t add a lot of additives into them,” said Matthew.

“The story behind Groovy Moo is quite a bit of a sad story. The guy who set it up, he got cancer. Sadly he died before the company launched, but in a way the legacy he left behind is quite incredible really.”

Platform 3 Pancake House has been newly-decorated with odes to the site’s railway history throughout.

“I’ve got another business with my partner Tracy who’s going to be there most of the time,” said  Matthew.

“She’s going to be running it. Tracy has experience in catering, she was brought up in a cafe. When we came up with this idea she jumped at it really.”

The Station Masters House was brought back to life as a fish and chip shop after falling into disrepair over many years.

Former owners Matt and Jo Hogg announced its closure “with sadness and regret” in September last year.

The site reopened as a restaurant for a short time this summer.
