ATMOSPHERIC Yorkshire landscapes, striking close-up images of wildlife and a Hollywood icon are among more than 150 artworks on display in Bradford city centre this month.

Winter Wonder Wall 2023, opening at Trapezium Gallery next week, brings together work by artists and photographers from across the district.

The gallery’s annual Open Exhibition, being held for its second year in the run-up to Christmas, showcases more than 50 creatives through a variety of art forms, including drawing, painting, photography, textiles, crafts, 3D and video.

Ken Woods of Trapezium Arts says: “Last year we held our first Open Exhibition, from all the work submitted to our Online Gallery, and it was a great success. It really brought local artists and other creatives together and included so much great work that we decided to make it an annual event - something we think is crucial with Bradford 2025 City of Culture only a year away.”

The artwork has been selected from all creative work submitted over the past year to the Online Gallery at Trapeziumarts.com. Artists are asked to send photographs of their work then these are uploaded to virtual galleries, available to view all year round.

Lauren Kelly, online curator at Trapezium Arts says: “We’ve had an amazing response to our call-out for people to send us their artwork. There is a huge range of work, from traditional landscapes to street art, from homemade crafts to digital collage. You don’t need to know about computers to get your work online. People can just get in touch, and I’m happy to guide them through the process.”

The Online Gallery and the Open Exhibition have welcomed work from both professional artists and enthusiastic beginners. Adds Lauren: “We want to be as inclusive as possible and really spread the message that art is for everyone. “We think it’s important that local creatives have a space to display their work, so the Online Gallery and the annual Open Exhibition will continue to be something we run every year for the artists of the Bradford district.”
