A MAN has produced a 2024 wall calendar celebrating the UK's pylons - and it features two in West Yorkshire.

Stuart Atkinson's creation includes a pylon at Hunslet in Leeds (May) and one at the M62 at Castleford (November).

He said: "I've always had a bit of an interest in pylons - they are so imposing and incongruous with the landscape, sort of like metallic monsters marching across the hills and fields.

"I do remember taking photos of the large pylon just outside school as a teenager so I guess that is when it started.

"I do a lot of travelling for my work - I work for a hazardous waste company - and to pass the time had started looking at the different types of pylon, wondering what the different parts are for.

"With a bit of help from the Pylon Appreciation Society and quite a bit of my own research, I put together the calendar (which can be bought here) in a few months over the summer."

He added: "It's been selling really well.

"I had visions of tipping the first batch into the paper recycling bin in January!

"I've also had interest from a major calendar distributor - they've taken a batch from me."
