A WEEK dedicated to babies in Bradford is coming back for its sixth year.

Baby Week Bradford will run from November 14 to 20 with the theme - Bradford Babies, Healthy Babies: Ready, Steady, Grow!

Good nutrition and physical activity during pregnancy and the early years are key for children’s development and long-term health, and this year’s Baby Week Bradford theme will highlight easy ways to help families start those healthy habits early.

There’s a range of free family events taking place across the Bradford district, including a family fun day at Odsal Stadium, woodland walks, outdoor play sessions, story and rhyme times at the district’s libraries, and starting solids evening workshops for parents who work during the day.

There are also events and activities for Bradford’s maternity and early years workforce, including an outdoor play workshop, and free resource packs to run activities in their own settings.

Better Start Bradford, which co-ordinates Baby Week Bradford on behalf of the district, is also aiming to get the whole of Bradford moving and wiggling to the Baby Week Wiggle, a special song and dance created especially for the week by BoomChikkaBoom, best-known for their fun, family raves.

Baby Week Bradford will also be joined by Dr Amir Khan and CBeebies’ presenter George Webster.

Dr Amir said: “Good nutrition and physical activity are key for everyone, but starting healthy habits in pregnancy and early childhood can make a world of difference for future health and wellbeing.”

George added: “I’m really excited to be attending the Baby Week Bradford family event – I absolutely love singing and dancing and can’t wait to get everyone moving.”

Kerry Bennett, integration and change manager at Better Start Bradford, said: “We’ve got so many people and organisations to thank for bringing our sixth Baby Week Bradford to the table.

"It’s been a great example of partnership working.

"All the events and activities over the week are free and will focus on healthy habits and physical activity, with a very generous helping of fun and wiggling thrown in.

"Please take a look at our website as soon as you can as events book up very quickly.”
