MULTIPLE emergency vehicles were scrambled to the scene of an incident at Leeds Bradford Airport this morning (Sunday).

A plane that was to due to depart at 7.08am and was bound for Girona, Spain, had to abort take-off and returned to the airport a short time later.

A spokesperson for Leeds Bradford Airport said: "We can confirm outbound flight LS255 GRO aborted take-off this morning, with emergency teams responding appropriately.

"The flight landed safely with no issues to passengers. The airport remains open as usual."

A spokesperson for the Yorkshire Ambulance Service said: "We were asked to attend an incident at Leeds Bradford Airport as a precautionary measure but we weren't required."

The spokesperson confirmed that multiple ambulance service vehicles had been called.

It also understood that multiple police and fire services were also called to the scene.

A resident who lives at Apperley Bridge said: "There were loads of fire brigade that have gone past my house this morning. It was non-stop for a half an hour."

The T&A also contacted West Yorkshire Police and West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service for a comment.
