AN employee of Safestyle UK has spoken of the "upset" and "frustration" workers are feeling after receiving a text message outlining a Bradford double glazing windows firm's intention to appoint administrators.

Safestyle UK, which is based at Style House, 14 Eldon Place, Bradford, issued a notice just before 6.30pm on Friday saying the company is "no longer able to continue trading as a going concern" and "consequently, the board has filed notice of intention to appoint administrators".

A long-time Safestyle employee, who wished to remain anonymous, shared with the T&A a text message sent to the worker by Rob Neale, CEO of Safestyle UK,

The text message, which arrived after the employee finished work on Friday, said: “I promised to update you all as soon as I had more news to share.

"I regret to inform you that our discussions have been unsuccessful and that all parties have now withdrawn their respective interests in purchasing the business.

“The board of HPAS has therefore concluded that it is no longer able to continue trading as a going concern and has filed notice of intention to appoint administrators to HPAS.

“I appreciate that you will be anxious to know what this means, particularly in terms of payments.

“These questions will be answered as soon as we can. Next steps will be communicated directly to you at a briefing at your normal (or closest) Safestyle site on Monday at 1pm.

“If you cannot attend, you can join a Teams call at 2.30pm. The link for this will be sent to you over the weekend.

“Between now and then we cannot continue to work, an I must tell you all to safely down tools with immediate effect and to go home and/or not to attend work.

“This is not what any of us wanted. It is the one we have all worked hard to avoid. I commend you all for your professionalism, resilience, decorum and support for each other over what has been a very difficult period.”

The long-time Safestyle UK employee said: "It's definitely been a tough time. Many employees are annoyed, frustrated and upset with the whole situation, which has happened just before Christmas."

The employee estimates that around 2,000 employees could be affected including fitters, surveyors, as well as admin and sales staff.

He estimated that the company has around 30 offices across the UK and eight installation depots.

The T&A has reached out to Safestyle UK for a comment.
