A DOG owner has been fined £800 for failing to get it microchipped within the correct timeframe.
Rachel Pollard, 35, of Ivy Gardens, in Bramley, Leeds was found guilty of being the keeper of a dog who failed to comply with a notice to get the dog microchipped within 21 days, at Kirklees Magistrates' Court last Friday.
She was served a notice by Leeds City Council on January 23 this year to have the dog she owned - which was described as "unknown" in court records - microchipped with in 21 days.
But she failed to do so.
In law, an authorised person can serve this notice on the keeper of a dog that is not microchipped and if they do not comply it is an offence.
Pollard did not appear at court and she was proved guilty in her absence.
She was ordered to pay £802 in total for the offence.
This included a £220 fine, a surcharge of £88 to fund victim services and costs of £494.
