A TEENAGER has avoided a jail sentence after carrying a knife at a Bradford nightclub.

Tokara Ali, 18, of Woodcross Court, in the Holme Top area of the city was sentenced at Kirklees Magistrates' Court on Tuesday for possessing a knife blade or sharp-pointed article in a public place.

The teenager had previously pleaded guilty to the offence at Bradford and Keighley Magistrates' Court on August 18.

Ali was caught with a knife at Rabbit Hole Bar/Club, in Westgate on July 22 this year.

The teenager was handed a community order for the crime.

Court records said a "community order was made as a direct alternative to custody".

The community order includes up to 10 Rehabilitation Activity Requirement days and 200 hours of unpaid work over the next year.

The court also ordered that the 18-year-old be deprived of the knife.

Ali's sentence included a £114 surcharge to fund victim services.

Rabbit Hole opened back in March 2019.

A spokesperson for Rabbit Hole said: "The individual was never a customer of Rabbit Hole, he was searched by our security team trying to get in.

"He was found to have a blade by our security team (Solid Security), who subdued him and then called the police to arrest him.

"The police congratulated our door team. I want to make it clear, everybody gets searched before they enter our venue."

The spokesperson added: "We have never, ever had a knife crime inside our venue."
