HUGE light displays will once again illuminate areas across the Bradford district – with Bradford City Hall among the areas being transformed.

The full line-up for BD:is LIT – a biennial arts event held across the district - has been announced.

The main event will take place in Bradford city centre on November 3 and 4, but other parts of the district will also be illuminated.

The first BD:is LIT event in 2021 attracted more than 20,000 people to the city centre.

The weekend will feature 25 interactive experiences created by local, national, and international artists.

There will be projections on buildings as well as inflatable parades, and circus fire performances.

Some of the installations include:

• The return of Colour Project’s projection mapping piece Luminarium, which wowed crowds at previous city centre evening events. This time, the illuminations will celebrate the hall’s 150th birthday.

• Rosie Freeman’s Hearth will take over the civic entrance of the building with an audio experience. This will tell stories of the hall’s past and present. This is a ticketed event and pre-booking is recommended.

• PictoFacto will bring the streets alive with Lampadophores – large inflatable light structures.

• Giant bubbles will appear across the Mirror Pool, created by Atelier Sisu. Deepa Mann-Kler’s illuminated sheep will also take over nearby green spaces.

• Bradford theatre company Common Wealth will be at Bradford College, presenting a new performance and installation Fast, Fast, Slow. This will explore fast fashion and its impact on the environment.

• Theatre in the Mill at the University of Bradford will present various experiences including the newly-commissioned Cloud Songs by artist Shabina Aslam as well as Salt Eaters, a site-specific multi-sensory experience by Mez Galaria, and Wish You Were Here a series of VR bicycle experiences featuring binaural sound technologies, photography, and poetry.
