A BANNER praising a former Bradford City manager who was stood in the opposing dugout at Valley Parade has angered some fans.

The Bantams scored a late equaliser in a thrilling 1-1 draw with Wrexham on Saturday afternoon.

The Welsh side's manager Phil Parkinson enjoyed a successful five-year spell in Manningham from 2011 to 2016.

The highlights included a League Cup final appearance, a playoff promotion, and a special FA Cup 4-2 win at Stamford Bridge.

While he received an excellent reception from City fans before and after kickoff, some were keen to remind him of his achievements during the game.

A lengthy white banner had black lettering spelling out 'Parky - The Special One'.

It is thought to have been in reference to the shock Parkinson-led Bantams win over Chelsea, managed by the self-proclaimed 'Special One' Jose Mourinho at the time, in 2015.

Supporters took to social media to express their dismay at the act.

"Love Parky but save it til after lads #bcafc" said Paul (@_paul1978).

Liam Gill (@gillybcafc) said: "Whoever thought that Parky sign was a good idea needs to give their head a shake."

Tom (@tommksn) added: "Can we please let go of Parky. That banner was atrocious, bit embarrassing when he’s in the opposite dugout to us… #bcafc"
