FAMILY law firm Makin Dixon, which has an office in Bradford, won the highly coveted Family Law Firm of the Year award.

The prestigious Family Law Award, which recognises Makin Dixon's success in legal aid, groundbreaking case wins and innovative training methods, was presented at the Yorkshire Lawyer Awards ceremony hosted by Helen Skelton, Countryfile presenter, in the New Dock, Leeds.

The company, launched in 2004, has developed training programs for lawyers focusing on domestic abuse and children with a heavy lean towards legal aid.

The company boasts several groundbreaking cases in the last year, one of which has seen a change in legal aid rules for the whole of the UK widening the scope for victims of domestic abuse to gain access to legal aid.
