AN INDIAN restaurant in the district is celebrating after winning a second award in the space of three months.

The team at Shimla Spice in Shipley have picked up the Indian Restaurant of the Year for Bradford prize in the LUXlife Food and Drink Awards 2023.

It follows the restaurant picking up the Best Eatery in Bradford in July at the Bradford Curry Awards 2023.

Manager of the restaurant group, Faisal Hussain, told the Telegraph & Argus that this was an “amazing” achievement for Shimla Spice.

He said: “To win two such big awards in the space of three months is a massive achievement for myself, my team and customers.

Mr Hussain went on to say: “At Shimla Spice our team of chefs and front of house work endless to give all of our customers an amazing memorable experience and our aim is to treat every customer of ours as a family member so they receive a royal treatment at our restaurants.

“Winning two awards in the space of three months is great as Bradford is renowned as the curry capital of Britain and to be known as the best restaurant in Bradford is a huge achievement for us as there are so many outstanding restaurants in Bradford.

“It’s been a great year for the Shimla Spice Brand and currently we are in the processes of refurbishing our restaurant so we can give a new fresh dining experience to our customers that visit us regularly.

He added that in addition to the two recent wins, the restaurant has also been shortlisted for Hospitality Venue Of the Year 2023 in this year’s Retail, Leisure and Hospitality awards.

Organised by the Telegraph & Argus and LOCALiQ, along with partners the Bradford BID and The Broadway, they aim to celebrate success and achievement in the sector.

Winners will be announced at a special ceremony in November at The Broadway Leisure and Shopping Complex.

“Winning this would be the icing on the cake to win three awards in the space of four months,” added Mr Hussain.

Shimla Spice opened its first restaurant in Keighley in 1998, marking 25 years in existence this year.

The group followed with the Shipley restaurant in 2006 and a third site in Burnley which opened in 2015.

The LUXlife Food and Drink Awards are organised by LUXlife magazine, which runs a number of awards across different categories, including travel and tourism, style and apparel, hospitality, parent and baby, as well as perfect gifts.
