A new restaurant hopes to immerse its customers in a world of Asian and Japanese cuisine.

Couple Chrystal Tong and James Feng have brought Soul Restaurant to High Street in Yeadon.

After growing around the catering industry and years of experience, the couple wanted to bring their own fusion of flavours.

They have crafted a menu with Japanese cuisine, sushi, Asian fusion dishes, Thai curry, and more.

The duo have also created their own cocktails and unique bubble tea concoctions.

But it is only the beginning of their dream to showcase Japanese cuisine.

Sweet treats, Asian-inspired drinks, and fresh seafood will slowly be introduced to the menu.

“We’ve been immersed in the world of food,” said a spokesperson for Soul Restaurant.

“We wanted to share the rich culture of Asian and Japanese cuisine with others.

“We proudly opened our doors in October.

“Our restaurant is designed to be a haven of relaxation with a jazzy and chilled-out vibe. We aim to create an environment where you can unwind and enjoy your dining experience to the fullest.”

Describing their favourite part of running the business, the duo said: “The most rewarding aspect of running Soul Restaurant is the opportunity to meet and connect with a diverse array of customers.

"Building these friendships is truly heartwarming.”

Chrystal is not the first in her family to venture into business.

Her brother co-runs the popular Moon Tea Chinese Cafe in Greengates.

You can tuck into anything from sashimi platters to hand-rolled sushi and special rolls.

There’s also gyoza, ‘inside out’ uramaki sushi rolls, and donburi - a Japanese "rice-bowl dish" consisting of fish, meat, vegetables or other ingredients simmered together and served over rice.

Japanese food has grown in popularity in recent years, the husband and wife team said.

It comes just weeks after Tesco revealed just how huge demand for sushi has grown in the UK.

The supermarket chain said sushi has replaced the smoked salmon sandwich as Britain's favourite premium lunchtime treat.

Bradford Telegraph and Argus:

When Tesco launched its new clubcard meal deal, sushi sales at Tesco reportedly increased by 90 per cent.

“More and more people are embracing the unique and delightful flavors of Japanese cuisine,” the pair said.

“We're delighted to be a part of this culinary journey.

"Come experience the culture and flavors of Asia at Soul Restaurant.”
