A PACKED programme of events is planned in Haworth for the festive countdown.

Christmas in Haworth organisers have unveiled a mixture of traditional and new attractions to bring seasonal sparkle to the village.

Activities will kick off with a Light Up Haworth event on Saturday, December 2.

Christmas trees adorned with thousands of lights will be illuminated, and decorated shop windows displayed. Choirs and bands will perform in Main Street, and there'll be a Santa's grotto at Central Park.

The following day, Haworth & Worth Valley Rotary Club is staging its second annual Santa fun run. Starting at 11am from the top of Main Street, participants will set off along a five-kilometre course through the village and park. For more details and to sign up, visit haworthrotary.co.uk/santa.

On Saturday and Sunday, December 9 and 10, the traditional torchlight procession is being held. Starting at the bottom of Main Street at 4.45pm, lanterns and torches will be carried by participants and a brass band will play. A carol service will take place in the parish church immediately after Sunday’s procession.

A Christmas music weekend is planned for Saturday and Sunday, December 16 and 17. Brass and pipe bands will play and there will be performances from choirs at locations across the village.

And the ever-popular Nativity procession takes place on Saturday, December 23, and Christmas Eve, when the Christmas story is brought to life. The procession, including donkeys and carols, begins at 2pm from the bottom of Main Street.

A host of shopping events is also lined up.

Late-night opening is on Thursdays December 7 and 21, when many independent shops will stay open until 8pm.

A Christmas artisan market will be held in the park on the first three weekends of December, featuring a wide range of stalls. More details can be found at rshartisanmarket.co.uk.

Festive experiences will be created too on the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway and at the Bronte Parsonage Museum.
