A FORMER long-standing Bradford MP has joined the board at his local football club.
Former Bradford Council Leader Gerry Sutcliffe stood as Labour MP for Bradford South from 1994 to 2015.
He also served as Minister for Sport and Tourism in the Brown Government.
Today, it was announced he will join the Board of Directors at Bradford (Park Avenue).
"I’m delighted and proud to be asked to join the board by Gareth Roberts (chairman) and his colleagues," Mr Sutcliffe said.
"As a child, BPA played a big part in my life helping me make lifelong friendships and today I enjoy playing walking football at Horsfall.
"I share Gareth’s vision for the club and stadium and will use my experience to turn it into a reality."
Sutcliffe was educated locally at Cardinal Hinsley and Bradford College.
The 70-year-old has also agreed to join the board of the club's associated charity, The Horsfall Community Trust.
