A BRADFORD man has been brought to justice for damaging a car headlight and threatening to smash truck windows after being wanted by police for four years.

Antony Moorhouse, 45, was jailed for eight weeks for three offences in total, which took place in 2018 and 2019.

Moorhouse, of Cranbrook Avenue, Bradford, failed to turn up to a 2019 hearing at Bradford and Keighley Magistrates’ Court in relation to criminal damage and threat to damage property charges, that dated back to March 2018.

He was found guilty in his absence of damaging one man’s car headlight to the value of £243.86 and threating to smash another person’s truck and windows, during a hearing on February 19, 2019, after he failed to turn up to the trial.

At the latest hearing, he pleaded guilty to failing to surrender to court bail and in sentencing magistrates took into account that the warrant issued in 2019 had been outstanding for four years.

Court documents show that magistrates found the offences to be particularly serious as there had been a “deliberate delay to justice”.

As well as the jail term, Moorhouse was also ordered to pay a surcharge of £115 to fund victim services.
