BRADFORD has a number of finalists for the biggest event in the Asian culinary calendar, the Asian Curry Awards – dubbed the “Curry Oscars”.

The list of over 200 venues across the country will now be whittled down to the top hundred by online votes from members of the spice loving public, which will decide the eventual finalists, via asiancurryawards.com.

Popular Bradford restaurants MyLahore, on Great Horton Road, and Shama Bingley, on Keigley Road, Bingley, have been shortlisted as has Pudsey-based Lala's Restaurant.

Aagrah Group and Akbar's Group, which both have restaurants in Bradford, have also been shortlisted.

These will be then assessed by a panel of judges from the Asian Catering Federation (ACF), who will determine category winners.

Judges from the Asian Catering Federation (ACF), which organises the event, are currently visiting the candidates to determine the overall category winners.

The victors will be revealed at a glittering gala dinner and presentation ceremony, hosted by BBC news anchor Samantha Simmonds, being held at the Grosvenor House in London on Sunday, November 19.

“We’re seeing some remarkable innovation by pioneering restaurateurs, adapting to challenging trading conditions and more sophisticated customer preferences,” said Asian Catering Federation chairman Yawar Khan.
