Strike action will be held at a Baildon-based manufacturing business next week as part of a dispute over pay.

Employees at Denso Marston, based in Baildon, who are members of the GMB trade union, have voted overwhelmingly in favour of strike action.

Workers are calling for a 12 per cent pay rise following what GMB claims is "years of pay erosion".

GMB claims Denso Marston is offering the lowest-paid workers four per cent and six per cent for all other workers.

The first planned strike date from GMB members will take place outside the Otley Road site on Tuesday, September 19.

Denso Marston employs more than 820 people and produces thermal systems for industries including construction and agriculture.

Peter Davies, GMB senior organiser, said: "Workers at Denso Marston deserve better.

"They deserve to be valued and paid accordingly for their work. They deserve a 12 per cent pay increase."

No representatives from Denso Marston were available to comment when contacted by the Telegraph & Argus.

Founded in 1904 as the Excelsior Motor Radiator Company, the company also set up the Denso Marston Nature Reserve, behind the factory and on the banks of the River Aire.
