A HISTORIC Bradford district hall will be opening its doors to the public for a special day next month.

Baildon Masonic Hall, at Hoyle Court, is set to be open between 10.30am and 4pm on Sunday, September 10.

The initiative comes on National Heritage Day and the admission is free of charge.

Organisers said: "Hoyle Court, set in beautifully maintained gardens, was originally the home to the Ambler family, who were wealthy Bradford mill owners. It was sold to the Freemasons during the 1950s.

"The hall will open its Lodge rooms, which includes an Egyptian style 'temple' (lodge room) and there will be an art display created by Freemasons; with water-colour and oil paintings, landscapes, drawings, cartoons, and Masonic-themed paintings; some of which will be for sale to the public.

"Also being displayed will be needlework, tapestry, sculpture, and decorated Goose Eggs.

"Everybody will be welcome to take a trip around the building."
