A BRADFORD man has been fined for causing unnecessary obstruction on a road with his car.
Sermed Khan, of Northampton Street, off Otley Road, committed the offence in York on June 10, 2022.
The 25-year-old's Volkswagen Golf caused the obstruction on Low Ousegate.
Khan appeared at Harrogate Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, August 9 of this year.
He was fined £50, and had to pay court costs of £90 and a £34 victim surcharge.
Under the Highways Act 1980, if a person, without lawful authority or excuse, in any way wilfully obstructs the free passage along a highway, they are guilty of an offence and liable to a fine not exceeding £50.
The 'highway' includes the road, the pavement, grass verges and private property used as a public thoroughfare.
