A FOOTBALL supporter was arrested after a pyrotechnic was thrown onto the pitch at Valley Parade yesterday.

The incident occurred at Bradford City's League Two hosting of Colchester United on Saturday.

West Yorkshire Police confirmed the arrest of a Colchester supporter on their Bantams Twitter page.

They also added that a "small minority" of City fans were involved in "disgraceful scenes".

The club are said to be aware of this and are set to take action against those involved.

The police tweet read: "One arrest for possession of a pyrotechnic and throwing it on the pitch today (Saturday).

"The away fan is currently in custody.

"Some disgraceful scenes by a small minority of City fans afterwards.

"The club are aware of this and will be taking action against those involved."

CUSA, an independent organisation formed in 1995 and run entirely by volunteer fans of Colchester United, expressed their disappointment at the arrest.

They tweeted: "Very disappointed and annoyed that one of our new members committed an offence at Bradford today and was arrested.

"It is not big, it is not clever, but it is against the law, and the consequences can be severe."
