A SOLICITOR who has dedicated more than half her life to her home city says she is humbled to be handed a prestigious county honour.

Dr Ruby Bhatti OBE has more than 30 years' experience in the legal field and over 25 years’ experience of various non-executive directorships in the housing, education, youth, and health sectors.

She has now been appointed as one of six new Deputy Lieutenants for West Yorkshire.

Dr Bhatti OBE sits on the Service User and Carers Advisory Board in the Faculty of Health Studies at the University of Bradford.

She said: “I am humbled and at the same time honoured to be appointed as a Deputy Lieutenant for West Yorkshire and I look forward to serving the community, the King, and the Lord-Lieutenant in his work to champion and support the county and people of West Yorkshire.

“I feel privileged to be given a further opportunity to continue my sincere commitment to working with diverse communities and carry on making a difference to society as a whole.

“I am also delighted to be able to support my fellow Deputy Lieutenants with the wonderful work already taking place within the communities in West Yorkshire.”
