THOUSANDS of people turned out for the first day of the Bingley Festival.

Happy Mondays and The Boo Radleys kicked off the festival, which runs until Sunday (August 6) at the Bradford & Bingley Rugby Club.

An official spokesperson for the festival told the T&A: "Day one was amazing.

"A massive thank you to everyone who turned out in their thousands last night.

"Happy Mondays were on fire and it was a perfect way to start the four-day party in Bingley.

"The atmosphere was incredible and I bet Bez has sore legs this morning.

"We can't wait to see you all again tonight for Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds. If you still need a ticket there are a handful left via the website. Thank you Bingley. We salute you."
