THE opening date of a new Co-op store in the Bradford district has been confirmed.

Co-op was originally due to open the store on Bingley Road, Saltaire, this spring.

The store’s opening date was then revised to June this year, but the Co-op has given a further update, saying the new store will open on September 22, 2023.

The new 2,800 sq ft store is nearly 400 sq ft larger than its existing store in the village.

It includes customer car parking and will support 16 local jobs.

The store is moving from its current premises, further up Bingley Road, into the new building. The current store will close on September 21, 2023, it has been confirmed.

A poster in the window of the existing store reads: “Your Saltaire’s Co-op is moving to Bingley Road, Shipley, BD18 4RS on September 22.

“We’re closing on September 21.”

The new purpose-built store will include a free ATM, in-store bakery, and coffee dispenser.

Home delivery of Co-op groceries will also be available through Deliveroo, Just Eat, and Uber Eats.

A soft plastic recycling unit will also be available to enable people to recycle ‘soft plastics’ like crisp packets and bread bags.

The new store is on the site of a former car wash.
