POLICE have revealed how many times they have been called to illegal drones being used at an airport.
A Freedom of Information Act request sent to West Yorkshire Police showed the amount of reports the force has received about drones illegally operating within the restricted airspace around Leeds Bradford Airport, in Yeadon over the past three years.
There were five incidents recorded in total between June 27, 2020 and June 26, 2023.
Just one report was made in 2020-21 and then the amount doubled to two in 2021-22.
There were also two calls made about this kind of activity in the most recent period (2022-23).
In all those cases, no one was arrested while the incident was live and no equipment was ever seized.
