THE owners of "hidden little gem" spa have spoken of how they are weathering the storm in the current climate.

The Elegant Avenue is run by sisters Gemma Thompson and Hannah Wilson, and Gemma's daughter Aleyah.

The trio opened the spa in the former Gables GP surgery on Swinnow Road in Pudsey.

In a tough time for businesses, the spa is thriving.

Hannah said: "We got the keys in December 2021 and we initially aimed to open in March last year but there was a lot of hard work involved and we opened on July 12, 2022.

"We probably started up at about the worst time when you consider the bills for electrics. They are very, very high."

But Elegant Avenue has weathered the storm, as Hannah added: "We're doing really well."

Gemma said: "Given the current economic climate, we have worked really hard to keep going through all the hardships that businesses are facing."

She said the spa is "something a little different for Pudsey than your typical shops" and added: "We renovated the old Gables doctor's surgery into a beautiful little hideaway.

"It really is a little hidden gem."

Hannah said: "We celebrated our first anniversary with a week of special offers and a raffle for everyone.

"Everything's been going really well since we opened last year.

"We're getting a lot of repeat customers and some fantastic feedback.

"We're getting busier and busier and we're growing.

“We wanted to stay affordable and people have been saying our prices are great compared to other spas.

“It’s nice to bring something different to Pudsey and we’re getting more and more people coming from further away which is nice.

"It's a massive space and is a lot bigger than we first thought. It's a good-sized building.

"We've revamped the building and it now has a steam room, which is essentially a room within a room. We fully tiled it all out.

"We have a double treatment room, single treatment room, sauna room, a dining area where people can enjoy afternoon tea and a drift away chamber."

Hannah described the drift away chamber as a chill-out room where people can continue to relax after having a treatment.

"We also have an area outside with two hot tubs and a summer house which has seating," she added.
