A BRADFORD nursery where children feel ‘happy, safe and secure’ was rated as ‘good’ in its first Ofsted.

Blessings Nursery in Fagley, which opened last year, was visited by the education watchdog on June 16.

The inspection found the setting to be good in all categories, including the quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, and leadership and management.

Children’s behaviour at the nursery was described as ‘very positive’ and the report said they show awareness for their daily routines.

The report said: “Staff gather information from families to help them get to know children before they start. This helps them to develop close bonds, and children settle in quickly.

“Staff are kind, caring, and nurturing towards the children.

“They offer plenty of praise and are good role models.”

It said the nursery continued to consider the impact of Covid on children and worked hard to close the gaps in their learning.

Staff focused their teaching on helping children to be confident, happy learners and reassured parents who may feel anxious.

The early years setting was praised for its exemplary attitude to supporting families in the community and was described as going ‘above and beyond expectations’ to make sure children had access to a wide range of experiences.

The report highlighted an ‘ambitious vision’ for the curriculum, focused on children's communication skills and promoting their personal, social, and emotional development.

The report said: “Children develop good levels of independence and staff actively promote healthy eating. Children pour water for themselves and enjoy fresh fruit at snack time.

“Staff focus on helping older children take an active part in their self-care, such as learning how to use the toilet before they move on to school.”

Inspectors said safety was prioritised at the nursery and staff had a thorough understanding of a range of child protection issues.

To further improve the quality of the provision, the report said the nursery should provide young children with clear messages about good hygiene and enhance handwashing facilities so they can practise this for themselves.

Mohammed Islam, Director of Blessings Nursery, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have achieved an Ofsted Good Provider Grading within six months of opening.

“We now have two Ofsted Good Provider settings in Bradford.

“The hard work will continue to ensure we are always meeting the needs of children and parents.”
