At the height of the fire, which started at around 5pm yesterday (Saturday), appliances from 10 fire stations across Bradford and further afield, along with specialist units, battled the fire at the now derelict building on the Riverside Estate in Shipley.

The fire was extinguished by 7am this morning.

A spokesperson for Shipley Fire Station said: "We spent all night there.

"It's a large complex and the fire was on the second floor."

Pictures taken by the T&A today revealed blackened fire damage around an entrance door to the second floor of the building.

The Shipley spokesperson said the site was difficult to access for large firefighting equipment such as an aerial unit.

Concrete blocks put in front of a gate also denied access at one entrance.

Firefighters also had to cut a hole in a metal barred fence around the site to help them get to the building.

A police officer was at the scene this morning to stand watch at the site.

Although it is anticipated a fire investigation will be launched, there were no West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue vehicles at the site late Sunday morning.
