SHOCKING footage has emerged of two drivers using the pavement on a street where heavy traffic was trying to negotiate roadworks.

One resident in the area claims their young child was almost hit by one of the vehicles.

The incident occurred on Toller Grove at around 5.20pm on Thursday evening.

CCTV footage shows two cars, including a Mercedes, riding the pavement on the street.

It's claimed drivers are using Toller Grove to avoid roadworks currently in place on Leylands Lane.

One resident, who wished to remain anonymous, said: "I had just parked up. My daughter was getting out of the car and these two morons drove down the pavement.

"The pavement is pretty wide but pavements are for legs, not cars.

"The kids can not play outside, even on the top of their own driveway, because people are driving like nutters.

"If my daughter had been an inch the other way, she would have been hit."

A Bradford Council spokesperson said: “The works in question are gas safety repairs being undertaken by Northern Gas Networks and are currently scheduled to end on July 12.

“Any instances of anti-social driving are a police matter and should be directed to West Yorkshire Police.”

The T&A approached West Yorkshire Police for a comment.
