A MAN has been jailed for three burglaries including at a fish and chip shop and barbers.

Mark O'Hara, 51, of Brunswick Street, in Bingley was jailed for 32 weeks at Bradford Magistrates' Court on Tuesday after committing a commercial burglary back in May while serving a suspended sentence from March.

The crime was at a business in Park Road, Bingley.

The 51-year-old had already burgled Rob's Plaice and Ally Kutz, in the same street, on March 5 and received a 40-week sentence, suspended for 18 months at Bradford and Keighley Magistrates' Court two days later after pleading guilty to the offences.

He stole £100 from both premises and the chippie was left in an "absolute mess" after it was "ransacked"

O'Hara's suspended sentence was activated because he committed another crime while this was still in place.

Sergeant Terri Green of Shipley Neighbourhood Policing team said: “We welcome the custodial sentence handed down to O’Hara.

“O’Hara continued to offend whilst on his suspended sentence.

“I hope this gives the community reassurance that we are taking burglaries seriously and bringing offenders before the courts.”
