REGULAR patrols are being carried out in the West Bowling area of Bradford to tackle anti-social behaviour, police said.

It came after a resident contacted the T&A reporting a recent incident of anti-social behaviour on Silverdale Road, West Bowling.

They claimed the incident involved a number of people, loud music and the use of nitrous oxide canisters.

He sent pictures of the canisters, which were cleaned up by a volunteer the next day.

The resident said: "Now that the summer has returned, so has the anti-social behaviour.

"We are not prepared to spend another summer with sleepless nights and see the area treated like a waste dump."

The resident said there were problems with anti-social behaviour last year but said: "After an increased police presence over a number of weeks, the problem was reduced."

Police said the area is regularly patrolled by police officers and they noted they had only received a handful of calls relating to vehicles parking anti-socially.

They added there had been one report of someone smoking cannabis in the street in the first six months of this year.

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: “Regular neighbourhood patrols are carried out in the Bradford East area targeting anti-social behaviour. Officers will continue to work with partners in the area.”
