PLANS for a luxury care home in Bingley have been taken over by another developer.

The 72-bedroom development on the site of the now-demolished Stoney Ridge Hospital, between Heaton and Cottingley, was approved in November.

Then in February, the Telegraph & Argus reported that the company behind the scheme, Morrison Community Care had announced it would begin work on site within six months.

Their plans for the care home complex included a cinema, spa and Champagne bar.

Now the site, complete with planning consent, has been sold to Torsion Care, who will take the scheme forward.

Chris Burns, senior land manager at Torsion Care, said: “We’re delighted to have completed the purchase of this care home development in Bingley.

“This adds to our growing portfolio of care home developments in Yorkshire which is set to expand further in 2023.”

The Bingley development is intended to provide residential, nursing and care for people living with dementia and includes a café, activity lounge, life skills lounge and hair salon.

The former Stoney Ridge Hospital was sold for an undisclosed price.

Torsion Care, under its Burghley Retirement Living brand, is behind apartment complexes for the over 55s in Saltaire and Brighouse.
