A BRADFORD man in his 90s completed a challenge designed to test young British Army soldiers.
Jeffrey Long, 92, of Bingley, completed the Doko Challenge, a charity event to raise money for the Gurkha Welfare Trust. It was held in Roundhay Park in Leeds on Sunday.
Based on a pivotal part of the Gurkha selection process, the event challenges participants to take on an undulating 5km cross-country course with a weighted Nepali Doko basket strapped to their back.
Participants can choose from Doko baskets weigh 5kg, 10kg or 15kg, and can run, jog, or walk the route.
Jeffrey said: "I completed the challenge in spite of my service injuries and others since, coupled with my advancing age."
Jeffrey, a former paratrooper, has raised more than £300,000 for charity over the past 15 years.
