A BRADFORD-based community project has been awarded £10,000 as part of a National Lottery-backed scheme.

Curry Circle by Muslim Women's Council in Bradford was voted as a runners-up in ‘The People’s Projects’, walking away with £10,000 for its projects thanks to National Lottery players. Out Together by Out Together in West Yorkshire also finished as a runner-up.

The Curry Circle sessions are open to all including families, to collect food every Thursday from 4pm to 5.30pm at Manningham Library, Carlisle Road, Manningham.

Meanwhile, three community groups in ITV Calendar North have won up to £70,000 each of National Lottery funding in this year’s The People’s Projects.

The vital funding was awarded to ‘Butterflies Barnsley’ by Butterflies Dementia Support and Activities Group in Barnsley, which received £64,728; ‘SNAPS’ by Special Needs and Parent Support (Yorkshire) CIO in Leeds, which won £67,429 and ‘Incredible Edible’, also based in Leeds and was awarded £70,000 after they won the public over with their plans to make a life-changing difference in their local communities.

The groups were among 95 worthwhile projects across the UK in the running to share over £4 million in National Lottery funding as part of this year’s The People’s Projects.

The People’s Projects sees The National Lottery Community Fund, ITV, UTV and the Sunday Mail (in Scotland) working together to give the public a unique say in how National Lottery funding should be invested in their local area.
