A BRADFORD man has been fined £10,000 for breaking Covid travel restrictions during the pandemic.
Allawy Mintefij, of Godwin Street, entered a non-designated port when he was flying back from Turkey to the UK on June 13, 2021.
Court documents state at Manchester Airport the 47-year-old "contravened the requirement to arrive at a designated managed quarantine port".
The documents add that the "passenger went to Turkey whilst they were on the amber list, but misread the guidelines for returning to the UK from a red list country".
The offence was proven in his absence at Kirklees Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, May 17, 2023.
Mintefij was ordered to pay £10,810 by July 12.
The payment includes £620 in court costs and a £190 victim surcharge.
