A SELECTION of items from Bradford’s sporting past and Leeds United memorabilia are set to go under the hammer in an online auction.
Matchday programmes, badges and postcards from football, speedway and cricket are up for grabs on the Midland Sports Auctions website.
A piece of Bradford speedway history is up for grabs when a programme from the Knock Out Cup between Bradford and Poole, which took place on August 14, 1962. The fixture was held at Greenfield Stadium in Dudley Hill.
The stadium was the first and former home of then-named Bradford Northern rugby league team, before the venue became a greyhound and speedway track. Greenfield Stadium closed in 1969.
Three pieces of Bradford (Park Avenue) history is up for grabs from when a clash with Chesterfield.
The match, on April 11, 1950, is commemorated with an official programme from the game. This item, lot number 31, has an auctioneer’s estimate of £20 to £25.
Another matchday programme from Avenue’s past is also available.
The programme from the club’s clash with Grimsby Town on December 22, 1951, features as lot number 253, and has an auctioneer’s estimate of £12 to £15.
A vintage Avenue badge, featuring a club logo, is included as lot number 1055 and has an estimate of between £20 and £25.
Meanwhile, City fans are also catered for at the auction with a vintage badge of their own.
The Bantams badge features a mascot in a claret and amber-coloured striped shirt.
This item is up for auctioneer’s estimate of between £20 and £25 and is lot number 1185.
Leeds United fans of a certain age can re-live their childhood with a lot featuring their club’s side from the table top football game Subbuteo.
The set of players, all in the white Leeds kit, are complete and at the auction as lot number 2001 at an auctioneer’s estimate of £10 to £12.
A postcard featuring a black and white photograph of the 1908 Yorkshire County Cricket side, which includes their names, is also available.
The auctioneer’s estimate for this item is between £15 and £20 and the lot number is 1870.
Tim Beddow, of Midland Sports Auctions, is expecting a lot of interest in the items. He said: “We have got some good customers in Bradford, especially for Bradford City and Bradford (Park Avenue) items..”
The three-day auction is now live and ends between Sunday, June 4 and Tuesday, June 6.
