A YOUNG Bradford man is "taking a leap of faith" as he joins the "world of pure imagination" that is Sunbridgewells.

Joe Tattersall, 19, is the manager and owner of The Enigma Lounge, which opened in the underground tunnels complex this month.

It's in the location of the former Gin Bar and Joe has big plans for his new drinking establishment.

"It's a new beginning and this is a new challenge for me," said Joe, who is from Eccleshill and attended Hanson Academy.

"Sunbridgewells is known as a world of pure imagination," said Joe.

"That's what Graham Hall used to say and it's still going off of that.

"I think this is a great opportunity," he said.

"Everyone at Sunbridgewells has made me feel very welcome and a part of the close-knit community.

"Everyone works very closely with each other here and hand-in-hand helps each other out when they need it."

Joe, who was doing maintenance at Sunbridgewells, said the opportunity arose to run the bar.

"This is a leap of faith and I'm trying something completely out of my resume.

"There is a lot of potential at Sunbridgewells and it is going the right way.

"I've got nothing to lose and I'll put a lot of hard work into it to make sure it works."

When asked why he chose the name The Enigma Lounge for his new bar, Joe said: "Enigma is associated with puzzles and Sunbridgewells is a confusing place - like a maze.

"I've never seen anywhere like it.

"I thought how on earth is all this possible? From rubble, it has been turned into this amazing place with countless bars and restaurants."

Joe also talked about some of his plans for The Enigma Lounge.

"We got it all cleaned up and I'm planning on putting an oval stage inside and some new furniture to make it classier," he said.

"We want to use red, black and gold colours.

"I'm also planning on introducing comedy nights. There are not many comedy nights around Bradford. This is something a bit different to get people in."

He also said the bar, which is open Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Bank Holidays, is starting to take bookings for events.

"I'm looking forward to complementing all of the other bars and restaurants in Sunbridgewells," added Joe.

"Every place has a different style which makes it brilliant."
