A BRADFORD district man had to pay almost £3,000 after he abused another person in a city centre McDonald's.
Phil Rodwell, of West Shaw in Oxenhope, admitted a charge of using threatening/abusive/insulting words/behaviour to cause harassment/alarm/distress
The offence was committed at the fast food restaurant in Leeds Station on September 3, 2022.
Court documents said: "The court finds that this offence was motivated (wholly or partly) by hostility towards persons who are of a particular sexual orientation."
The 44-year-old was fined £1,920 and had to pay a £768 victim surcharge and court costs of £85.
The £2,773 total will be paid in £270 monthly instalments, starting on June 1.
Rodwell appeared in Leeds Magistrates Court on Thursday, May 4.
