A large cordon and a huge police presence was put in place - blocking off Hollingwood Lane, Hollybank Road and one entrance to Brackenhill Park.

Bradford Telegraph and Argus:

Dog walkers and children playing in the park or walking home from school could be seen in the busy residential area.

People wandering through the streets, lined with terraced houses and large gated detached homes, were left confused after discovering the sizeable cordon.

Residents were forced to park their cars on the nearby streets before being guided to their homes by community support officers.

Meanwhile drivers approaching the junction had to make u-turns in the streets amid the school rush.

Bradford Telegraph and Argus:

One woman, who was walking her dogs in Brackenhill Park, said she first heard about the cordon around 2pm.

She said: "My husband just said it was cordoned off and didn't know what had happened."

One resident was left shaken by the incident happening in broad day light.

"Normally it's really quiet," she said.

"It was after two when I noticed it. Apart from the road being busy it's normally not too bad.

"It's just unfortunate but it's all over Bradford at the moment. It's happening in Leeds."

Describing how news of the stabbing made her feel, she said: "Sick. I'm sick to the back teeth of it to be honest. We don't want this in society. Life's tough enough without all this on top. It's crazy."

Members of the public who witnessed the incident or have information which could help detectives have been urged to contact West Yorkshire Police.
