A BRADFORD man has been found guilty of carrying a knife and threatening two men in Leeds city centre.

Mohammed Irshad, 36, of Pelham Court, in Eccleshill was found guilty of four offences at Leeds Magistrates' Court last Thursday (April 6).

This included using threatening, abusive, or insulting words or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress; using threatening, abusive, or insulting words or behaviour with intent to cause fear of or provoke unlawful violence; possessing a knife blade or sharp pointed article in a public place and obstructing or resisting a constable in the execution of their duty.

Irshad was threatening, abusive or insulting to one man in Leeds and acted in the same way to another, with the intention of causing that man to fear unlawful violence, on November 12, 2021.

He was also caught carrying a folding pocket knife in Lower Briggate on the same date.

The knife's blade had a cutting edge which was at least three inches long, according to court records.

Irshad then resisted a West Yorkshire Police officer who was trying to execute his duty.

The 36-year-old pleaded not guilty to all four offences on October 4 last year.

He is set to be sentenced at Leeds Crown Court on April 27 and is on unconditional bail.
