A NEW documentary on the life of honorary Bradford City fan Dalia Lama is set to be screened in the city.

Never Forget Tibet: The Dalai Lama's Untold Story is being released in the UK and Ireland on Wednesday, April 19 to mark the 64th anniversary of the escape of the Dalai Lama from Tibet into India. It will be screened at The Light cinema in Bradford.

The documentary, narrated by Downton Abbey actor Hugh Bonneville, with His Holiness 14th Dalai Lama, details of his escape into exile for the first time on film in his own words with the Indian political officer who led him to safety, Har Mander Singh.

Featuring members of the Dalai Lama's family, the Tibetan community in exile and those with historic ties to Tibet, the film explores the Dalai Lama’s compassion for a world.

Fans’ group Friends of Bradford City presented the 14th Dalai Lama, Tensin Gyatso, with a personalised claret and amber City shirt and made him their honorary president in 2012.

His Holiness was pictured holding a claret and amber shirt with his name on the back and the number 14 which he received at the Yorkshire International Business Forum in Leeds.

The 14th Dalai Lama is the current Dalai Lama, the highest spiritual leader of Tibet, and considered a living buddha.
