WORKERS at Low Moor-based manufacturer, Solenis took part in a litter-picking event at Blackshaw Beck in Buttershaw as part of the Great Bradford Spring Clean initiative.

It was to mark World Water Day.

Solenis volunteers joined colleagues from Bradford Council and local residents to carry out a clean-up of the beck area, making it a more enjoyable space for people to visit.

To raise awareness of World Water Day, additional volunteers visited Hill Top C of E Primary School in Low Moor to talk about the importance of saving water and the water cycle.

World Water Day is a United Nations annual event to highlight the importance of fresh water and this year’s theme is ‘accelerating change’.

Joanne Love, communications manager at the firm, said: "Solenis manufacture chemicals for the water and paper treatment industries and as such we felt it was important to celebrate World Water Day by carrying out events within our local community.

"Globally, all colleagues within Solenis are being encouraged to save water by swapping baths for showers to support the World Water Day request this year which is 'be the change you want to see in the world."
