A HUGELY entertaining charity match on Sunday between a team of Bradford City legends and their Leeds United counterparts ended 7-4 in the former's favour.

The game took place at Silsden's Office Interiors Stadium, and was played to raise money Allan Gilliver's chosen charities, Friends Together, Guiseley Memories Cafe & Mill View Care Home.

Allan, who is now 78, played for City during the 1970s, and took on roles such as groundsman, safety officer and commercial manager at Valley Parade after his retirement.

Sadly, Allan was diagnosed with vascular dementia in 2013, but he remains positive, and was in attendance at Sunday's game.

Graeme Tomlinson and Michael McHugh were at the double for City, whose other goals came courtesy of Edinho, Gary Jones and Kevin Sanasy.

The likes of Dean Windass and Lee Duxbury were also playing for the Bantams, who were managed on the day by the club's former boss Terry Dolan.

Leeds, whose team contained the likes of Michael Bridges, Noel Whelan and Ross McCormack, were 4-1 down at half-time, so could at least point to the second half finishing 3-3.

Of course, the main matter of importance was the money raised on the day.

Thanks to the generosity of everyone in attendance, Allan's three wonderful chosen charities received £9,526 between them.

There was also a welcome profit of over £1,500 for Silsden AFC themselves thanks to sales of food and drink at the game.
