ROTARIANS in Bradford are staging a new sporting event this summer, the Bradford Rotary Disability Games.

The Games will be held at Woodhouse Grove School, Apperley Bridge, on Sunday, May 28.

Inspiration has been taken from the success of similar games run by Rotarians in Hull over several years.

Event organiser Anne Griffin, a member of the Bradford Brontë club, said they were really excited about seeing everyone in action and enjoying themselves.

“This event is open to everybody with a disability and not just athletes which gives everybody a chance to take part.

“Rotary is an organisation that is open to everybody and as Rotarians we want to ensure that as many people as possible in our community can have the enjoyment of taking part in a sporting event.”

“Our Disabled Games will be open to both males and females and we’re working hard to ensure that it will be a very special day for everybody.”

On offer at these Rotary Disability Games will be swimming, new-age curling, table tennis, boccia, archery, darts, and wheelchair racing.

There will be four categories for competitors, males 11 to 16 years, females 11 to 16, males over 16 and females over 16.
