RIDE2STRIDE a festival of walks, talks and music along the Settle-Carlisle railway line is making a comeback this year following a three year break.

Last held in 2019, the almost week-long festival centred on Settle, was cancelled in 2020 because of the coronavirus pandemic and has not been held since. Organisers say they are delighted to be back and have added routes from Skipton to the event which will take place from Tuesday, April 23 to Bank Holiday, Monday, May 1.

A festival spokesperson said: "As the name suggests the programme of walks uses the Leeds-Settle-Carlisle Railway with walks starting and finishing at stations along the railway. Walkers will be met by experienced and qualified walk leaders.

"The walks range from easy, moderate, strenuous thus catering for a wide range of walking abilities. In addition, over the period of the festival there will be a series of talks which will take place in Settle, on a variety of subjects but all with links to the Yorkshire Dales.
